Bank of Hawaii Announces New Senior Vice Presidents Christopher Keller, Edwin Quan and Michael Sakazaki

Christopher Keller has been promoted to senior vice president and business risk executive from vice president and chief compliance officer in the Wealth Management division at Bank of Hawaii. He is responsible for further strengthening and managing the bank’s risk program across its Wealth Management division, which includes first line compliance, collaboration with leadership to help develop and drive strategy, and improving the operational efficiency of the business.

Keller is a 25-year veteran in the financial services industry, having most recently served as chief compliance officer (CCO) for Bankoh Investment Services for the past nine years. As CCO, he modernized risk oversight of the bank’s brokerage business, led due diligence for new product development, and developed and implemented its investment advisory compliance program. Prior to joining Bank of Hawai‘i, he worked as a compliance manager for JPMorgan Chase and served as a senior compliance examiner for FINRA, both in Chicago.

Keller earned his bachelor of science degree in finance from DePaul University in Chicago and his master’s in international business administration from Nyenrode Business Universiteit in the Netherlands.

Edwin “Eddie” G. Quan has been promoted to senior vice president from vice president and continues to serve as director of institutional services in the Wealth Management division at Bank of Hawaii. He leads the bank’s Institutional Services business within its Trust Services Group managing $8.26BN in assets while generating revenue and significantly increasing annual sales production.

Quan joined the bank in 2010 as a trust officer, having previously served as a financial advisor in Honolulu. Over the years, he has progressed to advanced leadership roles including senior trust officer and senior manager institutional services. Throughout his career, Quan and his team established collaborative partnerships within the bank helping to develop and grow its various businesses.

A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and Pacific Coast Banking School, Quan earned his bachelor’s degree in economics. He is a decorated combat veteran receiving a Bronze Star with Valor from the U.S. Army. Quan serves on the boards of the Hawaii Captive Insurance Council as well as Armed Services YMCA, where he has served as chair of its Investment Committee for eight years. He also volunteers as a member of the Child & Family Service Guild and U.S. Vets Advisory Council. Quan is a 2024 Pacific Century Fellow and holds a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) designation. Additionally, he is the co-founder and co-chair of Bank of Hawaii’s Blue Brigade, an employee resource group for military veterans and allies, which has championed a focus on mental health education and awareness within the bank.

Michael Sakazaki has been promoted to senior vice president and senior market manager of Branch Banking’s West Pacific Market for Bank of Hawaii. He is responsible for overall management of retail banking-related activities and operations in Guam, Saipan and Palau, which include customer experience, community leadership, human resources management as well as meeting compliance standards, managing expenses and meeting financial goals. In addition to overseeing all branches in the region, Sakazaki works with management and staff on development and execution of the bank’s strategic plan.

Sakazaki joined Bank of Hawaii in 2017 as a bank associate after completing audit and tax internships with Ernst & Young in Guam and KMH LLP in Honolulu. He has since held numerous leadership positions at the bank’s Iwilei, Ward, Ala Moana and Waialae-Kahala branches before returning to Guam in August 2023 to work on all facets of branch operations and support. His stellar contributions have earned him the bank’s prestigious Chairman’s Circle Award numerous times, which recognizes top achievers.

Born and raised on Guam, Sakazaki attended Chaminade University on a basketball scholarship and earned both his bachelor of business administration degree in accounting and his master of business administration degree in accounting. He serves on the USO Guam Advisory Council and as a director for Pacific Century Life Insurance Corporation and is an active member of the Guam Men’s National Basketball Team.
