Balance information

You are provided both your current and available balances so that it is easier for you to manage your checking account.

Important information

1. Available balance

Is your account’s balance at the start of each business day plus the full amount of all credits, less that day’s transactions, less all holds. It reflects the most current amount of money in your account that is available for you to use and to determine when your account is overdrawn.

2. Current balance

Is your account’s balance at the start of each business day plus the full amount of all credits, less that day’s transactions. While the term “current” may sound like an up-to-date amount that you can use, this is not always the case. Any transaction authorization hold will not appear in your current balance.

Note: Debit card transaction authorization hold is a reduction in the available balance in your account when there is an authorization for a debit card payment transaction.

Where to find your current and available balances

You can find both your current balance and available balance when you review your account online, on a mobile device, at an ATM, by telephone or by visiting a branch. It is important to understand how current balances and available balances work so that you know how much money is in your account at any given time. This section provides additional resources about current and available balances.
